Guidance for Customers Using Fujiya

For reservation

Our shop operates primarily on a reservation system, but walk-ins are also welcome. However, please note that we often have to turn away customers without reservations during busy periods such as weekends. Moreover, as we have irregular days off, we strongly recommend making a reservation whenever possible.

〈Cancellation policy〉

If you need to cancel your reservation, cancellation fees will apply according to our cancellation policy. Please confirm this before booking.

Cancellation fees will apply from 9 days before the reservation date:

  • No-shows…100%
  • On the day or the day before…100%
  • 2 to 9 days before…50%
  • Cancellation before this…free

In the event of a cancellation, we ask for the cancellation fee to be paid via bank transfer.
If you are going to be late, please be sure to contact us.

Cancellation affects our ability to secure ingredients and staff, as well as prepare for your visit. If we have other bookings, your cancellation could also mean turning away other customers.

We understand that there may be various reasons for unavoidable cancellations, but we appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

Important Notes about the Experience Class

Please note that the duration of the experience, including mealtime, is expected to be 1.5 to 2 hours in total. (This may vary slightly depending on the number of participants. Please allow some flexibility in your schedule.)

The time slot is set to be from 9:00 to 20:00.

About the Number of Participants and Venue

The number of participants per session is from 1 to 120 people. (The venue may be split into two.)

About Allergy Precautions

Our experiences at Fujiya mainly involve cooking classes using wheat flour and buckwheat flour.

For those with wheat allergies, soba (buckwheat) allergies, or soy allergies due to the soy sauce used in the hōtō soup, we have prepared gluten-free and soy-free soup options. Please consult with us.

We also offer menus for vegans.

If you have any concerns due to allergies or religious reasons, please feel free to contact us.
(*Please note that there are traces of wheat on the utensils and boards in the experience room. Even if you avoid wheat in your diet, there is a possibility of allergic reactions. Thank you for your understanding.)

About Observation

We do not allow observation of the experience at our shop.

As seating is limited, and we may have to turn away other customers, we ask for everyone who comes to participate in the experience.

Even if you have small children under the age of 4, they can participate in the experience with an adult.

Exceptions are possible, such as teachers accompanying school trips or caretakers for people with disabilities, where observation is unavoidable. Please consult with us if this applies to you.

If the number of people in your reservation and the actual number of people who come are different, we may ask everyone to participate in the experience or refuse entry.

Other Special Notes

  • We serve your freshly boiled soba noodles in a large colander. We kindly ask you to use tongs or serving chopsticks to portion the noodles.
  • When you enjoy your soba, we provide a combined serving of dipping sauce, nori seaweed, wasabi, and green onions for the number of people. Please portion these items amongst yourselves. The dipping sauce is concentrated, so we ask you to dilute it with the water we provide to adjust the flavor.
  • Children under the age of 4 can participate for free, but no meal is prepared for them. You are welcome to bring your own meal for them. If they wish to participate in the experience, please apply at the child rate.
  • We lend aprons for free. You may also bring your own if you prefer. However, we do not provide children’s aprons. Please bring one if necessary.
  • All our rooms have tatami mat seating. If you wish, you can use a legless chair. Please feel free to request one (availability may be limited).
  • The experience time includes a meal.
  • Please accurately inform us of the number of people who will be visiting when you make your reservation, divided into age categories (adult, child, toddler). If more people come than you informed us, we may not be able to accommodate everyone due to booking arrangements.
  • We may take photos with your consent for posting on our website or social media.
  • You can take home any leftover food. If you wish, we will provide a container for take-out. Please feel free to ask our staff.
